The Manufacturers Ramble – On 3! is set to take place on Thursday, 23rd May at 2pm, starting from Souter Lighthouse, Whitburn. Now in its third year, the 10km walk brings together individuals from the North East manufacturing and engineering industries to raise awareness and funds for two vital mental health charities: Man Health and Andy’s Man Club.

Organised by Theo James Recruitment and AR Power, the event continues to grow in scale and impact. Last year’s walk saw an impressive turnout of over 120 participants, and organisers are hoping to surpass that number in 2024.

To encourage open conversations about mental health, discussion points will be placed at intervals along the route. These prompts will help spark meaningful dialogue about mental well-being, both in the workplace and beyond. Last year’s event demonstrated the power of these discussions, as participants shared real experiences and practical advice on mental health support.

The Manufacturers Ramble highlights the human side of the manufacturing industry, breaking down barriers and fostering a culture of openness. While the sector is often associated with resilience and strength, the event reinforces the message that everyone, at times, needs support.

In 2023, the walk raised £3,116 for its chosen charity, and this year, the aim is to exceed that total. Reflecting on last year’s success, Mark Bracknall, Managing Director of Theo James Recruitment, shared:

"This was another amazing event and turnout. It was honestly so moving standing in front of over 100 people, talking about mental health. It was powerful to see so many people come together from the industry."

Organisers hope this initiative will inspire others in the industry to support mental health charities and create a more open and supportive working environment.
