Peterlee business secures £70k funds to further support mothers

Updated: Oct 14

Mamma Social Co, a Peterlee-based business that provides supports, advice and guidance to new mothers across the UK, has secured £70,000 from Business Enterprise Fund (BEF).

The investment includes a £45,000 loan from BEF’s £1m fund for the North East backed by Ceniarth and a £25,000 Start Up Loan from the British Business Bank.

The business was started in 2022 by Kayleigh Laverick, a mother of two who found herself feeling isolated and lonely after her second child. Struggling with life changes, Kayleigh reached out to local mothers to arrange a meetup and walk. The next day, Kayleigh met with 9 other mums at Castle Eden Dene. This event confirmed to Kayleigh that new mothers needed more support and led to the formation of Mamma Social Co which offers a free membership programme.
