Plans for a County Durham quarry’s expansion have been approved.
Durham County Council backed a proposal by Kearton Farms to extend Hulands Quarry, near Bowes, to extract up to 10 million tonnes of limestone.
The site will be expanded to cover 239 acres and involves the continued use of the site offices and mineral processing plant including the asphalt plant and the recycling of imported road planings and road base until 2057 and the completion of restoration by 2059.
