Celebrity businesswoman Heather Mills has revealed her hopes that the North East will become a major centre for the fast growing vegan food industry.
Ms Mills, who grew up in Washington, has made two major investments into her home region this year after buying the former Walkers factory in Peterlee, County Durham, and the ex-Coty and Procter & Gamble plant at Seaton Delaval, Northumberland.
Both plants will create jobs for Ms Mills’ VBites company, which makes a range of vegan food products for the UK and export market. The company already had a plant on the outskirts of Newcastle.
Ms Mills returned to the region today to speak at the Entrepreneurs’ Forum Together We Can Take On The World conference in Gateshead , where she told delegates about her life and career, as well as her hopes for the VBites’ factories.
