North East Space Incubation Programme

The North East Space Incubation Programme is delivered by Business Durham at NETPark in partnership with the UK Space Agency.

It provides intensive support to companies, including professional expertise in business planning and strategy, IP protection and exploitation, financial management, marketing and market strategies, and links to the wider opportunity network in the space sector.

Companies on the North East Space Incubation Programme include:

  • Durham-based software company, Ryelore
  • Drone Industries, known for its mapping technology 
  • IT service provider, Rymote
  • Camera developers, Chapter 6
  • Viper RF, designers and manufacturers of high frequency semiconductor chips
  • NETPark-based aXenic, which produces ultra, high-speed optical modulators used in photonic applications
  • Lexicon,  using immersive tech to join up data and instrumentation
  • Scoutek, which specialises in space and archaeological exploration technology
  • Northern Space and Security, currently developing unique capabilities for defence and space applications

The expert panel providing support to companies participating in the programme are:

  • Alex Shiel of Ward Hadaway
  • Antony Hall of Mincoffs Solicitors

  • Rajan Bedi from Spacechips    

The programme and is part of a network of incubators which collaborates on events and initiative, an important part of the UK Space Agency’s ambition to achieve a 10% share of the global space market by 2030.

The investment in the programme builds on the significant impact the North East Satellite Applications Centre of Excellence, one of only five in the country has already made.
