Chemical manufacturer Thomas Swan increased its turnover by £7.2m last year and said it expects its strong sales to continue throughout 2019.
The business, which was founded in Consett but has offices in the US and China, saw its turnover jump from £26.5m to £33.7m for the year ending March 31 2018.
Harry Swan, chief executive officer and chairman of the family-owned firm, said that his company was continuing to invest in the business, both in the UK and US.
Mr Swan said: “Our recent results reflect a major increase in our exports to both the Far East and the USA, across a range of products. I’m pleased to report that we invested £1.8m in research and development, to support new product development, and £3m in new plant and equipment at Consett.
