It’s easy to see why the Tanfield Lea Business Centre has proved popular with tenants since it first opened its doors ten years ago.
The contemporary business centre, which is managed by Business Durham, the economic development organisation for County Durham, on behalf of Durham County Council, is currently home to 25 businesses ranging from marketing and IT consultancies to companies offering financial services through to dog accessories.
Over the last ten years, the centre in Tanfield Lea, Stanley, has seen 60 companies become tenants and it currently has more than 120 people who work there in its modern offices, which range from 135 sq ft to 1,787 sq ft.
Peter McDowell, business property director with Business Durham, says: “The great thing about Tanfield is that everything is set up so that business owners can move right in. We have competitive rates with three year, easy in, easy out agreements.
“Whether companies want to grow or whether they have specialist requirements in order to succeed, the team at Business Durham is on hand to help them. We have a very flexible approach for tenants who require different levels of support and that’s one of the reasons we have such a low turnover.”
The kind of support Business Durham offers ranges from advice on finance, such as grant availability, to networking and connecting to advantageous business leads. The centre itself has a fully managed reception, ample free car parking and 24-hour access to individually alarmed units. It also has a communal kitchen and atrium areas, air-conditioned conferencing facilities and superfast enabled broadband.
Adds Peter: “The centre is home to a multitude of successful businesses, trading both nationally and internationally. It’s the ideal place for new and existing businesses to expand and relocate and it’s in a great location. It’s easy to see why it’s popular with our tenants.”
