Northern Freight

Northern Freight Services, based on the North West Industrial Estate, in Peterlee, recently increased their headcount to 68, with help from Business Durham.

Bill Giles, Director at Northern Freight Services said “Basically, due to an increase in our workload across the business, not just the warehousing but transport as well, we found ourselves wanting an extra four forklift drivers and two HGV Class Two drivers.

Business Durham advertised for us. They put our advert out through local companies and business clubs.

We have managed to fill those six vacancies through the help of Business Durham advertising for us. I found that we have got better results through our relationship with Business Durham than going through the normal media channels.

I would like to say a big thank you to Joanne and her contacts for helping our company to recruit four new Forklift Truck Operators over the last few months. We have sometimes struggled  to find the right calibre of staff and found that advertising through the newspapers has not always worked and can be expensive. I would highly recommend that anyone looking to recruit should first contact Joanne and see what they can do via her contacts and networks.”

Ryan Brown, 42, and Lee Sillitto, 30 were initially employed as temporary forklift truck operators but have since been offered and accepted permanent contracts at Northern Freight.
