A company that specialises in energy procurement has gone from strength to strength over the last decade from its base at the Tanfield Lea Business Centre.
Sanctus Consulting was the first company to move into the centre, which is run by Business Durham, the economic development arm of Durham County Council.
Sanctus, which has five staff, is an independent consultancy specialising in facilitating energy purchasing and renewable energy supply contracts for the commercial market. It helps companies procure energy as well as installation.
Its customers include major companies in the brewing, offshore renewables, leisure and hotels sector and sporting sectors and Sanctus still has many of its original clients.
Martin Oswell, managing director of Sanctus, said: “The great things about being at Tanfield are its accessible location and great facilities. It’s well maintained and there is a high speed Internet connection, which is vital in a business like ours as we’re able to exchange big documents electronically.”
“The tenants here are very friendly and we often pass business to each other. I can’t envisage us working anywhere else.”
Sanctus is just one of 25 businesses who are taking advantage of all that Tanfield Lea has to offer – from its three year easy in, easy out agreements to free car parking.
Peter McDowell, business property director with Business Durham, says: “The great thing about Tanfield is that everything is set up so that business owners can move right in. Different tenants require different levels of support and that’s what Business Durham can provide – in a nice environment.
“Whether companies want to grow or whether they have specialist requirements in order to succeed, the team at Business Durham is on hand to help them. We have a very flexible approach for tenants who require different levels of support and that’s one of the reasons we have such a low turnover.”
