LEADING robotics company Tharsus chose NETPark as a base for its new office so it could widen access to the North East’s talented pool of engineering professionals.
Tharsus, headquartered in Blyth, Northumberland, is the UK’s number one designer and manufacturer of autonomous system robots.
The business, which delivers commercial robotic products to some of the world’s leading companies, has opened an office at NETPark to develop the software that is essential to the operation of Tharsus’s automated solutions. It will also be a centre for further expanding the company’s core knowledge of robotics, in line with its 2017 business strategy.
NETPark is an internationally recognised location for science and technology companies in the UK which aims to provide a dynamic and supportive environment for ambitious, innovative, high-tech companies.
Tharsus CEO Brian Palmer said: “We’re delighted to have opened our new site at NETPark. This will make it easier for us to attract the best engineering talent to the Tharsus team so that we can continue to deliver game-changing robotic systems for our customers.”
The move means the company can take on more staff from the high-calibre engineers available in the region.
Simon Goon, managing director of Business Durham, said: “We’re delighted that Tharsus is joining NETPark and has recognised that Durham is a fantastic place to do business. They will have access to a highly skilled supply chain within the county and we look forward to seeing them thrive in the next few years.”
