Industry and employment in County Durham is ever evolving. Many of the most popular jobs in today’s market did not even exist 10 years ago. It’s vital young people have the best inspiration, information and understanding so they can make great choices about their future direction. Businesses need access to skilled employees and are keen to engage with schools to inspire their future workforce about the great career opportunities available in local businesses.
There are some great examples of schools and businesses in County Durham already working closely together on a range of programmes and projects, and many of our employers and teachers give up much of their time to support young people to learn about the world of work.
Business Durham delivers its own highly successful programmes, such as Future Business Magnates and works with partners, such as the Durham Education Business Partnership and Durham University, to support the delivery of business education engagement initiatives in County Durham.
To raise the profile of the projects, and to encourage more schools and businesses across County Durham to get involved, the ‘Get the Buzz’ brand was launched in July 2015. Look out for more Get the Buzz activities taking place, and if you have a great example of schools and businesses working together that you’d like to be included in Get the Buzz, please contact us.
