The unexpected snowfall added to the excitement of a fun-filled workshop last week. FBM teams took part in a research exercise to help inspire their ideas and were able to explore all of the elements of a community within a world in miniature at the festive Beamish Museum. The Bank Boardroom was the base for the day and was a very perfectly placed for a business workshop.
Using common business models, teams began to explore the idea of a ‘Smart County Durham’, looking at how products and services of the past have been developed and how innovation has influenced change in an ever-changing world. Students began to understand the strengths and threats faced by many of the businesses and their importance to the local community.
Being in an environment such as Beamish Museum has given students the freedom to develop their creativity, work together as a team to develop their idea and build their confidence.
