A local success story that began in a room above a pub in 1999, Industrial Workwear Ltd are now operating from 3 Units at Derwentside Business Centre with a team of 20 employees and have recently succeeded in winning contracts with Hitachi Rail Europe and Nissan.
Industrial Workwear Ltd has supplied decorated Workwear and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) across the UK and Europe for 16 years and has a wide and varied customer portfolio. They have worked closely with the local council and Business Durham ever since their move to Derwentside Business Centre in 2001.
Managing Director Andrew Forster explains "Our growth has been steady and controlled over the years and we are very grateful for the support we've received from the local council and Business Durham There have been times over the years where it's been necessary to move to bigger premises but we've always wanted to remain on the Business Park here in Consett and with their help we have achieved this"
In 2013 Craig Hamilton joined Industrial Workwear as a Sales Director to focus on the proactive side of the business. He was amazed at the level of customer retention and the inbound enquiries and decided that his focus would primarily be on the provision of a complete service packageIndustrial Workwear developed bespoke ordering portals for their customers. Craig went on the road to meet the buyers and soon came to the conclusion that too many companies were receiving substandard service from within the industry and that Industrial Workwear were on the right trackwith their operation. In 2014 the company needed to double production capacity and moved things around to make space for more embroidery and print machines to cope with the increasing number of orders coming in. They employed more staff to operate the machines and increased their sales team to maintain the progress they had made
Due to the continued success of the portals, Industrial Workwear have recently invested in a state of the art software system to take the bespoke portals and customer experience to the next level.
The new system named SMARTwill really transform the procurement process for customers and will allow excellent visibility of ordering and total control over budgets. Craig adds “customers will be able to run detailed reports at the touch of a button if you wanted to know how many ear plugs an employee has used in 12 months, the SMART system can tell you!! We're all very excited about introducing SMART early next year and I'm currently very busy visiting customers demonstrating the benefits in preparation for their new system"
