AMBITIOUS three-year growth plans announced by Elmtronics will see sales soar and jobs created as demand for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations continues to grow rapidly throughout the UK.
Already the largest independent supplier and installer of EV charging equipment, Elmtronics has trebled sales since its move to Derwentside Business Centre, in Consett, 12 months ago and expects turnover to reach £7.8m by 2020.
The firm, founded by Anthony Piggott and Dan Martin, is actively seeking investment to support growth in key areas, including innovative product offerings and expansion into new markets.
“The electric vehicle market is predicted to expand exponentially over the next decade and Elmtronics’ strategy, coupled with this market boom, will unlock huge growth potential,” said Technical Director Anthony.
Elmtronics operates predominantly in the private and public sectors, working with some of the largest councils and NHS Trusts, including Northumbria and Tees, Esk & Wear Valley trusts, as well as big private companies such as MetroCentre owner intu.
With domestic sales of electric vehicles expected to grow from 100,000 to over 10 million by 2030, Elmtronics intends to make a bold move into the residential charging market by the end of the year, building further key partnerships along the way.
It also wants to make inroads into the retail and leisure markets, and is developing a concession-based sales model to provide charging equipment to hotels and retailers, then collect revenue from its use.
It is expected that Elmtronics 11-strong team will grow to more than 30 staff over the next three years and Anthony, who hails from Consett, says the head office will soon have to move into larger accommodation within the Derwentside Business Centre, which is operated by Business Durham.
Sarah Slaven, interim managing director of Business Durham, which works on behalf of Durham County Council, said: “Elmtronics is already experiencing impressive growth and taking on more staff so its move to Consett couldn’t have come at a better time.
“The great thing about Derwentside Business Centre is that its office units come in a range of sizes, meaning it can accommodate businesses big and small, and allow them to expand without outgrowing the facilities.”
